Re: Fret Reach

Luckily I had the webbing removed on my hand in the 80's so I have a half octave reach.

I couldn't really do 8p1 licks in a solo, exactly, but I can physically make the stretch on my UV.

8p1 would be impossible. i can barely do 1h7h9. i'm talking about tapping.

Re: Fret Reach

Found it.

Took 'em right after I got home from work, so excuse the un-metal khakis and blue oxford. No way in hell could I make that workable in a solo, but I can hold down a 1-8 stretch if I need to.

Is that really hard for you, or are you kidding? (I'm not insulting you, just curious) Because I can do that no problem and I have pretty average size hands ... As for Paul, I'm sure he could be anchored on 9 and hammer-on/pull-off 17 without a problem...

Same here.

I can't do 1 to 8, but now that I've been messing with it I can do 1 to 7. It's not comfortable, but I can do it while tapping. I'm getting closer to 8, but it would never be playable. No need to really. That's why there's a Whammy pedal.

Re: Fret Reach

It's not that I can't physically do it, its just that he does it so fast. Listen to the song "Rusty Old Boat" at the ascending arpeggios part. Thats what I'm talking about.
