Yea, i can do something like that too (i think 17's a bit hard for me, 16's much easier). Anyways, it makes for doing some cool tapping stuff with the massive reach.

So I'm and idiot. It was the 17th that I was looking at not the 15th. I swear I can play guitar lol.

Re: Fret Reach

god damn you guys must have big hands

i can reach the 5th fret and just about reach six with effort.
Its on a jem wizard neck though which should be similar to your pgm and starts so i must have small hands. But iam asian so i think that justifies it.

At first I thought it would be cool having an extra finger and all. But then I thought what about gloves? I hate mittens and I don't want to have to wear them all my life. So I'm fairly happy with the 5 that I have.

I was trying to teach a chord to a student a few months ago and he looked at me like I was crazy. I didn't think it was so unreasonable at first, but in retrospect...

Re: Fret Reach

i have the smallest, girliest hands on earth, and therefore cannot stretch very far at all - about fret 1 to fret 5.

Re: Fret Reach

Man, you guys are a bunch of freaks -lol. I'm with you, Jimmy, 1-5 is about the limits of my little sausages. I'm talking (somewhat) comfortable playing limits, not holding my guitar up to my neck, hyper-extend my wrist for maximum strech (which would only be 1-6 anyway -lol). I mean what kind of stretches are you guys able to hit comfortably, standing up, playing an actual tune? Some song examples that push the comfort limits for me at various parts of the fretboard would be:
the opening of Modern Day Cowboy (1-3-5, 3-5-7 streches on the lower strings)
beginning of the Tooth and Nail solo (9-14 on the high E)
It's Not Love solo (the 9-10-14 parts on the g and d strings)
Em triad 12-15-19 on the high E (I can't comfortably hit the 12-15-20 on In My Dreams, so I have to tap it)
Although I can hit 12-15-19, 12-16-19 (a la Ice Cream Man) is a bit awkward, so I tap that too.
