give me some new prog/rock/metal bands

Hey everyone,

I am looking for some new bands to look up. I am a Dream Theater fan, and Animals as Leaders. I love heavy prog like Scar Symmetry, or Spheric Universe Experience, and more conventional stuff like FireWind(not too proggy at all).

One of my favorite albums is Mutiny Within self titled.

So give me some ideas. I know there are a few great bands out there that i haven't hear yet.

Mercenary for more modern prog, definitively check out Fates Warning(Particularly Awaken the Guardian and No Exit) and Arch/Matheos, both Fates Warning members John Arch and Chris Matheos involved - Sympathetic Resonance album, is prog metal excellence. Another cool band is Andromeda but only the first album with the original singer, the newer singer re-recorded the album In Deepest of Waters, ruining the unique sound they had although the guitar work is excellent.

Maybe a little late to the party and a bit off genre, but the Aristocrats are a great bunch of musicians!

If you love Dream Theater, then you'll love Circus Maximus. They're basically a carbon copy of Dream Theater. I've got their albums "The 1st Chapter" and "Isolate".

Leprous' new album "the cloak" is a monster. Will most likely be my album of the year.

OHM with Chris Poland. Amazing stuff. Get the Live on KPFK or whatever it's called.
