I've created an interactive fretboard that allows you to select a scale, or series of notes that will show up on a 24 fret virtual fretboard. Best thing of all it's totally free to use !
Here is a screenshot :
Here's a link to the web page with the fretboard :
When you go there it will ask if you want to download Macromedia's plugin, say yes then let the 640k fretboard download.
If you have any questions or comments feel free to email me at 6828@iname.com
These links wont be active for much longer since my ISP is shutting down in a few weeks. My email will remain active after my ISP closes if you want to follow the fretboard project in the future. I may even have my own domain name soon too.
Totally cool! Very, very nice as well. All I need to do know is get it home and working on a PC with no net connection...
Ever thought of packging this as an executable? It's good enough, and if you could hook it up with some kind of midi (ie, hear the scale type thing) then this would be perfect!
As kevan said, it's well laid out, easy to see and is just what total neanderthals like me need
Flash is not MIDI compatible so I cannot get it to interact with MIDI files or commands. I can get it to play MP3's or WAVS, but that would blow out the size of the project a bit. I'm exploring this option for a future release, but I've only had the program for a week and a half, I'm learning as I program.
Kevan try this. Go to the following link and download the Flash 6 plugin for Mac. I've run my project using Netscape 6 on the G4 Mac at work and it works perfectly
THANKS TONY!
Works like a champ!
(Didn't know I needed a Macromedia update! LOL)
I love that you can switch fretboards, and select the color of the scale dots.
It's better than my book 'cause I don't have to turn pages and it doesn't suck up space on my desk.
you can save it by selecting "save target as" from this link. Then just open the file in windows and tell it to use internet explorer/netscape to open the file (if it asks)
Yeah, very cool stuff this! Everyone with a new guitar (since say...November 1st) should go through all their scales and modes one or nine times just to blow some of the rust away
This works best on a larger tablet or computer monitor. 16:9 ratio etc.
Tony
