JS in Seattle: BIG disappointment

I've just come from Joe Satriani show in Seattle. I'm VERY disappointed. Don't get me wrong, Joe was great, but I couldn't hear a damn thing! The bass and the drums were SO FRIGGIN' loud, all I could hear was ringing in my ears! Because of this ringing Joe's guitar was barely audible, and when audible it sounded like it was completely out of tune (it wasn't, it just sounded this way due to excessive volume).

Gone home in the middle of the show. To all gigging artists on this board: do a [email protected]#$%ing soundcheck before you play!

And don't ask cheesy fretless guitar players to warm-up the crowd for you. The fretless guy who played before Joe was just AWFUL.

The two times I've seen Joe (both on G3), I hated it because of the volume (the wheedly didn't help either).

I'm not usually overly sensitive to volume, but vai's volume was good and the other first acts were good (eric j and KW Shepherd), then Joe came on and was just too loud to enjoy.

sorry about the ringing. I feel your pain

I would've thought joe's had enough experience to know what the crowd is hearing,
after all it's one of the most important things when playing live

I saw Joe play in London this year and the sound was fine.
He had the fretless guy on before him at that gig. I thought he was OK, he was definitely different. The audience gave him a hard time really, It can't be easy opening for Joe Satriani whoever you are.

Talking about sound levels, I saw Gary Moore a couple of days ago and that was way too loud for comfort considering it was a 3 piece band playing a blues set.

I only went out of curiosity and it was local. I wasn't a fan before I went and I'm still not a fan now, that was an embarrassingly dissapointing gig!

He can't become a blues player after years of hard rock playing, and expect his fans to just go with it, without seeing some fireworks in the set.

You don't become a blues player, blues players just are!!!!!!!!

I was at the Seattle And Portland shows.Sound was fine to me at seattle, the treble was too high at portland(Joe wasnt happy with the sound in portland either)

At seattle,I sat to the right of the stage.......Row B,Seat 3 I think.Down right in front.

Great shows!
