Jemsite Guitar Challenge - October track?

Thought I'd post up an October track feeler thread. Not sure if Frank will step in here or if he's still too busy, but we can at least start the track selection process. I have a lot going on this month too, but definitely want to do the challenge again. Something interesting and different would be fun... forces me to learn. I may not be getting better, but I feel like I'm learning along the way.

Any thoughts? Something dark or spooky for Halloween?

This one is kind of cool... gets interesting around the 1 minute mark:

This one's pretty nice. I could envision some pretty crazy jamming to this track. Might record an improv even if it's not the one used, haha.

Well, this would be my first time participating, but I could see how it would get old.

I know, I know... but all the good ones are done in Em! Ha ha... I've been looking for different keys, Those were just a couple that sounded decent and weren't 6 minutes long. We have done a couple Em, a couple Am, and last month's Cm...so maybe we can find something different. Look around and post up some suggestions everyone.

check the post above yours, I posted a BT I did myself last year, it's in C minor but the approach is different. Listen to it!

This one's a bit airy, reminded me of something from late 80s/early 90s Van Halen, but it's based off a Joe Bonamassa song. Good melody, but a little longer than the target length discussed earlier.

You did that? Pretty cool... but it was hard for me to play over for some reason. I'm not very experienced though... maybe I do better with a stronger beat or a more defined chord progression. I'd love to hear what you have played over it though!

RedZone - Thats a cool track! D minor/major threw me for a bit of a loop. Pentatonic sounded good over it... and then suddenly it didn't work as well. There's not really a track length issue, since people can lengthen or shorten them as they wish. I run out of talent pretty quickly... lol.

I'm up for just about anything... whatever you guys like is cool with me. Even if I have trouble with a particular track, it just means I need to learn more.

Just youtube surfing (for anything but Em... lol):

Sad slow one in Dm

Another on in Dm, but this one ROCKS OUT!:

Slow ballad in Fm:

Re: Jemsite Guitar Challenge - October track?

If we want something other than Em, I rather like this one in A Dorian:

...which of course is enharmonically the same scale, but resolves in different ways so whatever.

Re: Jemsite Guitar Challenge - October track?

Wow, great tracks guys.

My favourites are A dorian, Dminor and Fminor. Kind of a Scorpions feel to the latter two which I love. The D minor one also has a slight feel of Mr. Crowley to it ...can't put my finger on why, but it just reminds me of that in places.

I like the D minor one a lot, but I suck at sweep picking and that track is tailor made for arpeggios, ha.

Re: Jemsite Guitar Challenge - October track?

I could do the same ones Laobi picked... A Dorian, D minor (sad), or F Minor. Although the Fminor track needs a bass line... IMO. The D Minor one is very interesting... using some odd chords. That one might be a good track for learning to play along with some different chords.
