The Jonas Tamas Guitar Workout - Tapping, Legato, Hybrid, Sweep

Hi, in the last few days I've made 4 guitar video exercises for different techniques - for tapping, legato playing, hybrid picking and sweep picking.

All the guitar exercises come with downloadable TABs, and some of them contains the mp3s as well (fast and slow versions too).

A quick legato run with chromatic passages:

TAB and mp3s: http://4shared.com/file/Z19-RM1M
-------------------------------------------------
C major tapping-arpeggio exercise with hammer-ons from nowhere:

A-minor arpeggio sequence with sweep picking:

Hybrid fast picking exercise:

Feel free to ask questions or post comments, I'll be glad to give advice.

Re: The Jonas Tamas Guitar Workout - Tapping, Legato, Hybrid, Sweep

Greetings!
I have a doubt and I hope anyone can help me.
It's about alternate picking: it's common said that the proper alternate picking method is moving your wrist and not your arm. I can currently use well my wrist to alternate pick some things, but when I try to speed pick I have to use my arm or i can't pick it for more effort that I do, what should I do about this?
Should I keep using my arm for certain things or what?
Good post by the way
I will really appreciate any help,
Thanks.

Yes it is better to move the wrist. In ideal case the movements should not depend from the actual speed of playing. However, there are many exceptions and unorthodox playing styles - for example Marty Friedman's right hand picking technique, he holds his hand in an extreme position to say the least. If the technique you've described above works for you well, then feel free to keep it. Of course, if you've just started playing the guitar recently, then it would be advisable to gradually change the way you play fast. So it is up to you, you can become a shredder even with arm movements.
