Semantics... they showed more technical proficiency on their newer albums too. Point is, someone with an advanced understanding of guitar/music would not be impressed by their technical ability (at least on the first 3 albums).

I've never understood the Clapton worship. Now, bear in mind I wasn't alive when he became a hero/legend. I wasn't around when his most memorable material released. So I heard his music alongside guys like SRV, Satch, and not preceeding it. Also, anytime I've seen him perform(including old footage), I found him boring. I found the 'personality' or 'mojo' factor rather lacking.

On the flipside, I feel Andy Timmons is deserving of far more praise than he receives. Legendary? To guitarists, maybe. To the average listener, hardly.
