For The Love Of god

For months ive been contemplating. Is ftlog in E phrygian, G mixo, B locrian. Or is he switching keys. What key do u think is in. Give me some feed back. thx

Well, those are all different modes of the same key signature (no sharps/no flats) so your question is more related to harmony rather than key. The harmony does indeed change through the basic chord changes that occur during the piece.

If I'm not mistaken, I'm guessing the piece is based on E natural minor (I'm guessing that because I remember hearing an F# somewhere in the arpeggiated electric sitar, I believe), which makes it the key of one sharp, which is also shared by modes like C Lydian, G Major, B Phrygian, etc.

Then again, I'm just guessing, I haven't heard the song in a while, but I think I'm pretty right. Either way, its in some sort of E minor.

I know this may seem a little off topic here, I don't know about any of you guys I started out playing guitar I had no idea things were going to get this complicated, even when I learnt all my penatonics it wasn't till I went to college that a teacher said, right we're going to learn about modes, and i'm like what?

thx again gentlemen but the open chord is a e minor 9th with the F# but this is also a B natural minor. Oh skrew it i'll just email steve vai somehow. Anyone know how to get a hold of him?
