Me doing Comfortably Numb

it's been a while since i posted any of my playing.

I have been recording my band's gigs the last few weeks, just to hear what things are sounding like. Happily, I've been getting really nice sound quality (even if the performances aren't so hot :-p).

I've been playing Comfortably Numb for years - I programmed all the music from scratch for my Invisible Band (see my website for details). I recently upgraded to the Korg Triton Extreme and took full advantage of all the awesome orchestral sounds to make one of my favorite songs sound nearly perfect.

So anyway, this was the last song of the night - I blew my voice out earlier in the evening, so the vocals are a little rough sounding. Also, my B string went out towards the end from an earlier string-break-quick-change.

It's my Jem-BFP with the Evolution in it, by the way. i thought this one came out good enough to share. It's 100% live in real-time (other than the sequencing, of course)

Comfortably Numb

It's nearly 7 MB, so you dial-uppers may want to pass on this one.

hope you enjoy it.

~K

Re: Me doing Comfortably Numb

i really liked ur vocals man...
tone is awesome.
i laughed @ a part where u sing "little pin prick".
you could have improvized the solo. the patch for chord palying is kinda wierd, i think others can explain or comment better. anyways.. i'll be putting up my recording of the last solo soon.

Re: Me doing Comfortably Numb

you laughed at the little bell ringing? that's on the record in some form or another - it just seems to pop out on my version more, i guess. Unless you're laughing at the "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"part. Not sure.

I'm not sure which chord sound you find weird...something in the keyboard? or the chorusy guitar.

As far the the improvisation, yeah - i could sit and improvise for 3 years and not come up with anything better than what Gilmour played. That's on my list of 'perfect guitar solos' (along with Stairway to heaven and blue sky, among others). I left a bit of extra 'solo time' at the end where the record fades out so I could put my own .02 in.

Thanks for listening!
~Kenny

hmmmm...i'm not sure what you're talking about. maybe make a note of the time marking and let me know. If it's happening under the solo, it's a sample I did on the Triton of just power chords.

Re: Me doing Comfortably Numb

Cool. When I play it, I try to arpeggiate the D/ C/G chorus to mimic the piano - hard to sing and play at the same time.

I agree with the solo thing, though. Especially the first solo - as much as I like ripping my own notes - Comfortably Numb would song off without it.

Kenny Bro, This is one of, IF not my all time favorite choon, I was apprehensive about listening to it but you did good dude, Enjoyable and i feel personally one of the few songs you cannot cover in a "differant" form ... Nice tone too, Have this saved and will repeatedly listen away

Top work and keep it up
