Talking Me doing some "Urban" guitar playing (video)

Hi everyone, just finished my new song & video

it basically has some dotted eight note delay & sustainer action in it

Never mind the faces that I made, it's the result of me trying to not look bored

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ft09bQhfG9k

oh, and my PC almost started to melt when I rendered that video with all those effects, you'll see why

hope you like it

Wow, a guitar instrumental that doesn't involve shredding... first for everything I guess...

99% of Satch songs don't have any shredding.
In fact Satch never was a shredder.
Just an example.
Steve Rothery isn't a shredder but he has the best melodies ever.
Maybe YOU're listening only to shredders.
Open your horizons, there are a lot of players out there who are 100% based on melody and not shredding.
The perfection is a balance between melody and shredding.
There's the right place to everything, sometimes shredding ,sometimes melody.
A song which is always the same stuff is boring,it needs changes to keep our ears excited.
I need to hear changes otherwise I get bored.
Creativity!

Holy crap a talking muffin bwahahahahahaahahahha

I agree. I play more for substance, because shredding does not come naturally to me. I find that most people that do shred, tend to over use speed to show skill and the sound gets annoying. In this case, he used the fret board nicely and smoothly. He incorporated several styles and modes and sounds smoothly. And gets an A+ for originality on the video.

Nice tune and a good video to go with it!

I think all my Satch albums must be among the last 10%. Many many notes!

Re: Me doing some "Urban" guitar playing (video)

thanks for watching everyone!

@560licious: Yes, I'm basically just playing the leading voice of the chords that are going on in that part
there will be less simplistic sustainer parts in the future

@6fingers: Well, no song can please everybody

regarding the shredding discussion: Some people seem to have this generalization that as soon as there is some shredding involved, that it all is just mindless ****ing (even if the shred was non generic stuff), or that it's only purpose is showing off.
For some reason only guitarists have that problem, no one complains if a drummer plays insane fills, or a pianist, violinist etc. plays fast etc.
To me it's all music, regardless if it's fast or slow, it all can be good or bad stuff.

merry christmas by the way!

Re: Me doing some "Urban" guitar playing (video)

I seriously loved it man haha
Brilliant!!!

Made me feel like I was on the bus to college :P

Brilliant! That's the thing with modern guitar players these days (well maybe just the teenagers), They all shred but have no sense of melody when it comes to playing!
I've actually gotten bored of shredding and starting to learn to play in a more melodic and jazzy style expanding my horizons whilst i'm still young
