Musical Phases

Anyone else go through these? Y'know, spend a week or so listening exclusively to one or two types of music or even one or two specific bands?

Lately I've gotten hooked on Nine Inch Nails, and really heavy stuff like Cradle of Filth, DevilDriver, etc.

Last week it was Wes Borland/Eat The Day/The Damning Well, A Perfect Circle, Tool, etc.

Currently...I have been listening mainly to Richie Kotzen's solo stuff. I just bought his newest album being a monster guitar player, he is such an incredible songwriter and I totally dig his singing. Plus, there's a nice jazz bebop instrumental to round out the package. I listened to the album four times straight last night because I was just soo hooked on it. None of his vocal tunes have ever disappointed me and I wonder why it took me so long to finally buy this album.

other than that...I've been really into jazz fusion stuff like Holdsworth, Gambale, Howe etc. I'm not really into rock instrumental right now.

Haha, it's really funny that this came up. I remember several months ago I kind of re-discovered Dream Theater's "When Dream and Day Unite". I rememb er how I had first gotten the album, popped it in and almost puked at hearing the lyrics ! Then, months later, I just picked it up and got hooked. I think for a good month that was the only album I would hear. Nowadays thoug I'm so busy with classes and all I'll hear whatever's close enough to pop in the discman before I run off to classes.

Late autumn and winter puts me in the mood for classical. My wife HATES it, and the people at my office can't understand how I can be a metalhead and listen to classical (this sparks a HUGE discussion on influences).

Needless to say, I'm listening to Bach right now.

I usually have phases switching between death metal, prog metal, and other kinds of music(non-metal), but with winter coming along I getting into a lot more black metal.

I'm going through a massive Jean-Michel Jarre binge at the moment.

I have no idea why. Really, where did that come from? Haven't listened to him for fifteen years or something.
