New Lesson Update - Look into the future....

OK, first off, let me appologize for the falloff in the rate of new lessons. *I've not lost interest or the ability to type, but rather I've gained a 48hour per week summer job. *With that said, I've been working on something special for ya'll. *Within the next week I'm going to put out a big lesson. *We're going to put together a number of the different theory concepts and work on a few phrases that sound familar, finally we'll put them together with a bunch of tapping and you'll be able to play the solo from "Juice". * It's all in my head-now is just the process of typing it out and recording some mp3s to go along with it. *After that I thought about working on some other ideas. *For instance, what would you think about choosing a song and examining the structure for the theory behind it. *For instance, I'd like to take apart "Hina" from DLR's Skyscraper and talk about the different components of that one. *It's a little different in that it sound very Hendrix-y and it's solo is not much to speak of. *Interested? *Ideas? *Please reply.

Okay. *What about "Hina" do you want to do? *Theory? Comp and style? *I'm interested in discussing either.

actually, I thought I'd start just by addressing his tone. *He uses a tone of processing on this track.

Next, into the style section, this piece is really interesting in that the time changes twice, and seems to change again during the chorus. *Quite interesting.

Finally for the theory part, this song presents a great chance to develop a solo since the solo in the song was just Steve kinda fooling around.

Groovey.
For me, the stand out feature of 'Hina' (one of my faves) is the delay effect, where Steve is playing against the delay. Rhythmically, totally awesome on headphones.
