Talking Ok guys I am confused!!!

I saw this contest and wanted to enter. Here is the thing though. I have read the rules and I am not sure what they want. Do i play the Satriani song close to note for note, or do I write my own song for the backing track? I am not sure, what do you guys think?

Thats what I thought too but what about "I firmly believe that the best way to hone your skills is to learn from fellow musicians," says Joe Satriani. I think its a bit unclear. I would RATHER write my own version!

Re: Ok guys I am confused!!!

You use one of the backing tracks provided to play your own improvisation or composition over the backing track.

They provide the track, you provide an ORIGINAL performance over the track.

You don't change the track, you change the lead.

Re: Ok guys I am confused!!!

I first saw mention of this contest in the latest Guitar Center mailer. The web site wasn't even up when I first saw it. I was thinking of giving it a shot. I looks like I would have to start a Youtube account. The funny thing is, I'm not sure what the point of the contest is. The prize is a lesson with Joe and a new JS guitar. Shouldn't the ten worst players with the worst guitars win the prize as they would be the most needing of it?

More than making a point, I was making a joke. A half joke, I suppose.
