On_the_Use_and_Abuse_of_Frogs.mp3 *** Bosch/Shakeel

Dear Scholars and pupils of Heraclitus,

History, conceived as pure knowledge, once it becomes sovereign, would be a kind of conclusion to living and a final reckoning for humanity. Frogs, in all their multiplicity typically identical, are a motionless picture of immutable values and eternally similar meaning.

Thus Shakeel and I recorded On_the_Use_and_Abuse_of_Frogs.mp3

This natural flavoured beef contains some centrifugal Tenor_Sax!

Bosch plays 0:00 - 2:07
Shakeel play 2:08 - 2:25
Bosch plays 2:26 - 3:35
Shakeel plays 3:36 - end

Do save as:

http://members.lycos.nl/shakeel2001/...e_of_Frogs.mp3

Both of used and abused Charvel guitars!

Work Breakdown Structure:

-Bosch combined loops and made backing in CWPA9.
-Shakeel kidnapped some sort of wicked saxplayer. (Check both unisolo-riffs).
-Bosch completed the backing and recorded his solo’s.
-Bosch msn’d6 the beef to shakeel.
-Shakeel did his parts in CWPA9 and msn’d6 the beef to Bosch.
-Bosch deleted all of Shakeel’s coolest licks and mixed the beef down.

We hope you'll enjoy listening to this mp3.

Regards,

Shakeel and Bosch

Thanx!

The title refers to On the Use and Abuse of History for Life (1973) written by Friedrich Nietzsche.

hey hey hey!!
shakeel and bosch's biggest fan here
man this is some crazy stuff!! , really soulful jazzy sax mixed with awesome whacky chops , as a whole the composition is very diverse , which is a great thing to have , love your melody at 2:08 shakeel sounds very good. I always wonder how these backing tracks are made , the bass I think sounds midi ish ? , and possibly with the drums too , sounds very cool guys , who's playing sax on this track ? , could you shed some light on this bosch ?
great breakdown btw shakeel , nice clean sweeps

Hey Anton,

Thanx!

The bass = combined REAL audi wav's! (Will's loops or something).
(Totally mutated! )

The drums are from e-drummer.com

The sax is made out of some WAV loops I got with DC++.

So none of it is midi (midi sucks )

I just start of with some cool drum parts (120 bpm) and put the bass with it and finally the sax and solo's emerge.

Yeah that part of Shakeel was absolutely fantastic! It's got the Greg Howe vibe and tone!

Howdie!

Hey bloodandtears,

I used the Charvel 750 + 5150 combo + alesis midiverb 4 (slapback delay). The Charvel's got Dimarzio Evolution's. Mic = Shure SM 57.

No midi at all: we just take COOL samples of different instruments (with the same bpm ) and put them together. When Shakeel is ready recording he formats to mp3 via MSN6 I get his solo's and a open them in Cakewalk.

Funny thing is, Shakeel and I never met in person. We met at some local guitarforum and came up with the idea of joining forces. Ever since recording and working together via MSN6 (both using CWPA9) turned out to be big fun and educative and loads of feedback. And for the listeners two players means more interesting licks.

The lick you mentioned, is a large interval (easy) tapping lick

Greetz,

~Bosch~

jeez.. thats fascinating... where in the world are you both??

its the slapback delay that "really got me" I think.. what setting? (spot the 5150\van halen pun? I must get out more )

Didn't know you could use mp3's in CWPA9 as opposed to WAV's...

We convert the mp3's to wav using Wavelab (for instance Creative Wavelab). We convert as least as possible since it doesn't benefit the quality. But when we send to eachother wav's are far to big.

My 5150 = from left to right:
(knobs: rythm pre ... to... prescence)
4-6-5-6-6-3-3-3-7-5
