I normally pick where by my plecturm is at a light back angle athough i recntly found out about the PG style, where you angle the pick forward. Now this is annoying me to no end, i can seem to pick faster/smoother when using the PG style grip yet thats just when doing simple 1234 chromatics to a metronome. If i try and pick scales, riffs i feel better with the other way.

I have tried incorperating the two, but i cant basically. For example, im playing a song with some chords in, then i progress to a quick rif in between and then go into scale improvisation..i just cant seem to switch from normal to PG back to normal etc. Now, i know people will say "Do whatever feels comfortable to you" but thats just it...im not sure what does. So do i stick with the way im used to, yet feel restricted when playing, or use the new way yet have to work a lot harder getting used to it all the time?

When you say angled forward, you mean the top of the pick is closer to the knobs/switch when you're playing standing up?

The way i used to use it was so thati held the pick between my thumb and the flat part of my finger, and angled it up. Where as the PG type style i tried is where i use my thumb and the side of my finger if you see what i mean
