Re: Ritchie has lost his mind........

Awesome stuff!
I love musicians who are not stuck to a genre.
Closed mind musicians play only one genre and say the others suck
Now have to watch more of that...

I admire musicians who try to be outside the box myself, but Blackmore is in the outer sphere!!

That's cool, he gives us other ways to "see" his playing.
I don't like Sabbath or his lead playing so maybe with another style I could like him.

Re: Ritchie has lost his mind........

Yeah I was curious to see how his music would sound If I thought it sucked.

Sabbath? I think you're confusing him for Tony Iommi. Ritchie is from Deep Purple. He's also one of Yngwie's influences when he was learning to play. If he was playing this hippie crap, Yngwie would have just become a keyboard player for Bjorn or whatever it is Scandinavians do lol

I actually liked some of the music featured in the video. But I'm not going with Ritchie to talk to trees, no matter how much I've had to drink.

Re: Ritchie has lost his mind........

Yeah I don't know why I wrote Sabbath, I meant DP.
I always hated DP music so if I had to choose, I'd pick up that "hippie crap"(like you called it).
Yngwie became a player frozen in his own music.
Over 3 decades he added nothing to his music, he always plays the same boring licks and his songs keep getting worse through these decades.
Any musician who keeps his music the same for 3 decades is frozen.........and dead to me.
Any musician who plays different stuff and is always trying different stuff(like it or not) shows me he's alive and still have pleasure making music, it's not only about money or an ego journey.

Re: Ritchie has lost his mind........

I agree with you 6fingers, all the way.
One musical style is not enough.
Like you mentioned, some guys get stuck in a very narrow rut and cannot produce any new music.

I have a Jazz background myself.
I've been playing a lot o Jazz lately.
I picked up a few semi hollow body guitars from Ibanez and Gretsch.
I've also been playing Rockabilly / early days rock like Chuck as well.
The Chet / Nashville sound has been keeping me busy too.
Today, I'm getting together with some guys to play some Rock / Metal.

I love it all!

That's funny, I've been doing a lot of the same. Been playing a bunch of jazz lately. Also, I've been learning (or trying to, anyway) some Danny Gatton stuff. Now I find myself hybrid picking even when playing rock, which greatly changes the sound. It seems the more you learn, the more you need to know. I don't know how anybody could become bored by playing music.

Yeah my friend music has so many colors, some people are so closed minded.
In my country metal players/fans are the worst, they hate any other genre but here they hate pop and reggae the most, if you're a metal player/fan and someday in your car accidentaly you dialed a pop radio station, your friends will look at you with that face = are you insane?!
There was a time I used to think it was only a "pack" thing like when they were alone in their bedrooms, they probably listened to other genres but not, they're so crazy that they can't stand the idea of catching themselves listening to other genres, the funny thing is, like any other genre, 90% of metal is cheesy, crap and with terrible musicians
