If I want a mixture of chording and soloing, I'll take Eric Johnson over him!!

I've seen EJ live, he's as stiff and mechanical as a robot.
I respect his technical ability but he has no feeling in his playing, at least to my ears.
I like EJs tone, very unique.

DAMN!!! I loves me some Greg Howe. I haven't seen a vid of him in a while and haven't seen that one ever but that was more impressive than Vai and Gilbert put together. My hand would have been tired after the first 10 seconds.

I got to meet and play with Greg Howe years ago.
He is so shy.
He told me a lot of stories about his early days.

I always wondered why he didn't make it big back in the 80s and wondered if it might be because of his race...?

Where'd you meet him at?

Is it just me or is the link to the vid now pointing to Brian Setzer?

I've always liked Setzer, even going back to the Stray Cats days. He's a fabulous player.

Re: Something Different - KILLER Solo!

I like the way he can seamlessly merge several styles of music together all in one song and make something beautiful to listen to.
It's like Jazz, Rockabilly, Swing, Twang, Bebop and Country all at once.
His playing sounds so full combining rhythm / chords and leads together.
He doesn't use much distortion but I don't even notice because he's so aggressive at times.
Music like his brings me back to my beginnings with guitar so long ago.
At the same time he's not playing some simple Beatles riffs.
He plays some really complex stuff that great on the ears.

Re: Something Different - KILLER Solo!

If you haven't already, check out Danny Gatton. He was similar in that he could seemingly play any style.

Nice!

What is this strange bar mechanism which seems to alter string tension when manipulated in a circular fashion? Surely this is going to be revolutionary.
