Steve Vai Masterclass - Melbourne - I totally jammed with Steve!

So did IbanezFreak777 of course. That was AWESOME.

Who was there? What did you think? I especially liked the first half when he talked about goals etc. Killer stuff.

Yep, totally agree.. I think that first hour or so was incredibly enjoyable... and as I was driving home listening to The Ultra Zone, Real Illusions this morning and pretty much Vai all day today at work I feel like I understand his work with allot more clarity than I did before yesterday!
Funny allot of his talk about goals etc are quite confronting.. though as he says, you can always change them!!
Petie, I know IbanezFreak777 was first in the jam, where were you? Thoroughly impressed by all those that did jam, some truly nice shredding and did you feel like you "rose to the occasion"??

Re: Steve Vai Masterclass - Melbourne - I totally jammed with Steve!

Yep Petie and I were backstage sh-ting bricks, before going on... well I was ****ting bricks anyways :P

I felt I played well considering the stress of it all. My only regret was not touching my whammy bar during it.. It was a little rushed, so I just went for my bread and butter licks... :P

Was the best night of my guitar life, and a monumental Guitar lesson... I kinda already thought the way Vai does, about thoughts being the beginning of creation, so hearing it all was a great reafirmation (is that a real word) for me..

I didn't get to hear much of the other jams, as I was recovering from the rush of playing..

I got a Video of me playing, I just got to get it from a mate, who is hopeless with technology.. was lucky enough he was able to film it with his iphone :P

it was great meeting you Petie... was a great night

Cheers !!

I was second, the dude with the Universe. I wasn't really nervous - the one thing I feel confident in in my life is that I can play guitar, so I kind of took the attitude of "Of course I'm about to jam with Steve Vai. This is just what happens." I know that's NOT what 'just happens' but I find that when I approach things like that, it starts to become true. That kinda ties in with what Steve spoke about in the first half.

Not sure... I will find out....

Yeah i wasn't really ****ting myself, but i cant deny the rush I was having... i was prepared, so that helped in me not being that nervous..I feel nerves for me helps me deal with the task at hand... it wakes me up and keeps me aware... which is a good thing cause you got to be aware when your jamming with Vai :P

You both were awesome. It was good to see all the jammers bring something different to the table.

Did that guy Saul Via show up? Heard he was selling a guitar.

Congrats guys that was a great story.

Did Macka get his guitar signed? I can't remember if he was "too far" or something.... Jeez.
