Re: vai vs halen - tapping.

Steve for his more Polyphonic Tapping. Eddie should do more like him since he grew up as a pianist. And I think that's the reason Eddie included the effect on the first place.

Trey Gunn - http://www.treygunn.com/home.html .

Seriously, check out some vids of a Chapman or Warr player for a demonstration of what tapping can be.

Re: vai vs halen - tapping.

vai took what van halen did and made it his own and advanced it. he's a more advanced tapper in general, uses more complex patterns and fingers.

Re: vai vs halen - tapping.

Sitting here I can hum several Van Halen tapping solos but more difficult to do that with Vai's. Just because Steve's are more technical doesn't make them "better", Eddie's are more soulful and bluesy.

So I prefer Eddie....

Re: vai vs halen - tapping.

I love Vai's tapping. It's my favorite thing to hear/see him do. I think the solos to "Big Trouble," and "Juice" are absolutely amazing.
