I am in Japan for 2.5 weeks for vacation, visiting a college friend. I'm enjoying just being here, but of course I knew I had to go in search of Ibanez guitars to make the trip complete. So on New Years my friend and I went to the nearest of 3 Ishibashi stores. Here are some pictures I took. We also took a video but I'm not sure how to turn the DVD into an AVI that won't be monstrously huge. If anyone has any tips, let me know.
I sat down with two j-customs for most of the time, but I am sure I will try them all out by the time I've gone through all the stores.
Here's the j-customs (divide by 100 to get the approx price in $s)
Check out the swirled RG! Tag says there are 50 in Japan.
The RG8470A VV had by far the most stunning top. Looking at the Ibanez website I always thought the blue 8570 was the coolest looking, but in person I don't really like the vine inlay and the top was not so amazing. I tried the maple fretboard 8570 but it was setup really badly, and it was a bit too bright sounding for me. I also liked the 3270 and 8570 DR. The 8570 was my favorite of the whole bunch. I want one! Looked like a pau ferro fretboard? bound in mahogany or something. Looks really damn good...
They have a 5% off coupon till the 9th, but this is still way too much money for me to spend
So I bought a piezo 7 string! Woohoo. Used and beat up (someone tried to refinish it), so I got a good price on it.
