What should I do?

I've been playing guitar off-and-on for about 13 years. To begin with I learnt basic open chords, did some simple classical guitar lessons, and then got friends to teach me some songs (nearly all power chords).
I learnt a few solos from tab too, including all the "easy bits" of various Vai songs..

Over the last 8 years or so I got more into producing electronic music, and only really used the guitar for adding nasty NIN style noise, now I've decided I'd like to learn to play it properly.

I know bits & pieces of musical theory, and I think technique-wise I'm not too bad (not very fast, but i'm not completely crap). But I'm not sure what to do next. Should I start from scratch, learning theory and scales from beginner level books (and the lessons here of course)? or should I continue learning songs, repeating tough parts until I get them?

It's kind of hard because of all the bad habits I've picked up over the years (you'd laugh if you saw how I play pinched harmonics!). I wish I'd spent the time to learn things properly when I was a teenager and had the free time to do it! (nine hour workout? I'm lucky to get an hour to myself after work!).

Anyone else in (or been in) a similar position?
