I never have one style, but quite a few.
I have a Line 6 Spider II 30.
On the clean channel:
I've always wanted to play like Metheny, so I think of his playing style when playing Jazz. On everything else it's Knopfler oriented.
On the crunch channel:
A mixture of Clapton (Layla), Andy Timmons (Electric Gypsy), and Phil Collen. Meaning, I play a lot of blues rock. Turn the gain and treble settings up a notch and I play a lot of good ol' hard rock ala Def Leppard (ever since I listened to Armageddon It).
On the Metal channel:
I don't really use this channel, but I mainly use it for playing 'Owner of a Lonely Heart' (okay this is more of a tone thing).
On the Insane channel:
Melodic instrumental rock ala Vai. And also a lot of EVH style (that means tapping, dive-bombs, tremolo picking, and the use of a Phaser when needed). But the EVH style that influences me the most is from 5150 and 1984.
One problem though. I just wish I could play as good as everyone I mentioned above.
