Workout

I just took some time to write out my practise routine...
kinda like Vais ten hour workout... only, this is MY ten hour workout...
well, more like 6-8 hours.. but still..

Neways, point is, i wondered if ne of you guys had a full practise routine or shedule that you always adhere too, or a specific collection of runs/licks/scales that you always run through...

If i can figure a way of posting a 40KB TXT file without it just comming up as mess... i will post my routine up!

Could you email it to me, please?
I really am getting lazy these days, playing the same things again and again. I would really appreciate some new interesting practice ideas.

I'll PM you my email

Just got it, had a look through, and sheesh, theres a lot to it
Much apprieciated, although i really need to squash it down by a hell of a lot, maybe take a bit from each section. Once i look at it properly ill let you know what i think, but so far looks great. Cheers

code eh...

here goes:

Code:
R.L.Leon

This is pretty much my full workout. if done properly, this
can take a good day to work through, but if done regularly
it will significantly increase your improvisation skills, and
your musical knowledge. good luck!

(please note, read through the lot, and then decide on an order to suite you,
this is not in any structured order at present...)

A classical run, with tricky fingering, keep an even pace, and define rythem

the last melodic phrase before the final chord is an arpegiated chord,

this is played using 'sweep' technique. all the rising notes played in one

downstroke of the plectrum, and the falling notes played with one upstroke.

lift your fingers off the notes as you brush past with the pick. start slow

get a clean solid tone from playing slow with careful technique, then speed up

gradually.

In that example you must maintain a steady pulse, due to the strict timing of

the phrases ( time signature is 2/2, with 4notes being player per beat.)

the final note can be accentuated by an artifical harmonic, or whammy effects.

great for warm ups with a musical purpose!

(if you find these arpeggios hard, there is a simpler progression shown later
it can be used as a warm up and technique builder to get you to this level.)

Romantic period Chordal progressions. Key ::: C# Minor
This progression sounds really errie, but harmonious, and
quite enchanting at the same time, i wrote it after hearing
a few of Chopins nocturns, itll stretch your fingers nicely at
any speed, and its a great one to practise complex improvisation
over... good luck

NOTE: The chords sound best when you "strum" them with your fingers,

where each note is a little offset from the other. For example,

the last flourish before the ending could be written as:

  E----------------------------------------------------4--------------

       C Dm7 C/E F F7 D7 Gm C7 F G#dim?
just a little bit of it... see if it worked...

R.Leon, Notes and Ideas on:

The Japanese Scale

The scale goes as follows:

Mode 1 (1,2,b3,5,b6)

Mode 2 (1,b2,4,5,b6)

This scale is based on 5 notes instead of the natural minor's 7.

So, in other words, if you're having difficulties in remembering

the fingerings try skipping the 4th and the 7th note in the aeolian

scale.

this thing is HUGE

its a monster work out, here is a little more, and ill leave it at this for now, but there is more if anyone wants... good luck

Code:
Seven String licks!!
R.Llexi.Leon

(works on six string too, just these ones sound extra kool!!)

Remember, to use your existing runs with the extra string, just duplicate what you doing on your
High Bstring, on the low one, to start or conclude a run/arpeggio/scale...etc !

Enjoy.
