Re: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I'll be considered a heathen, for sure, but I really never cared for Whitesnake. That's one album Vai played on that I don't own. Whitesnake always sounded like a Zeppelin clone act.

On a side note, did Vandenberg ever actually play on a Whitesnake album? He showed up around the time of "Still of the Night", with Vivian, but John Sykes played on that album. Then Adrian hurt his hand playing piano, so Vai had to play all the parts on the next album.

I don't know how you could even compare Whitesnake and Zeppelin, they sound completely different.
I always hated Zeppelin so if Whitesnake was its clone I'd hate it too.
MAYBE in the first albums (70's) they could have a song(s) in the same "neighbourhood" but they turned into glam metal/hair metal/hard rock whatever(so many different names in different countries).
Still of the night/Is this love/Judgement day/Fool for your lovin/Love ain't no stranger/Here I go again/Crying in the rain etc = Zeppelin?
Is Bon Jovi a Sabbath clone?

I'm picturing a Zeppelin fans army wanting to kill you

It's strange how people can perceive things differently. I most certainly hear a Zeppelin influence. In fact, the song you posted in this thread sounds like a Zeppelin cover. Here's something from wiki, for what it's worth...

While some long-time fans viewed the 1987 album as a sell-out and attempt to pander to mainstream tastes at the time, Coverdale was still reaching back to his musical roots, including most prominently Led Zeppelin
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitesnake

But if they don't sound like Zeppelin, I still don't like them because of the hair band thing. I find the whole hair band era strange, in that alot of those bands featured fantastic players playing cheesy tunes, in my opinion.

Yep and that's why people asking what guitar/pups/amps/effects they should buy always sounded dumb to me cause nobody have the same brain

Of course there's a Zeppelin influence, and not only Zeppelin cause they're rock and roll bands, they all have the same roots and sometimes a close sonority but my ears can tell Whitesnake has its own identity.
Do everybody who play pentatonics are Hendrix clones?
Nope, they're just in the same "neighbourhood".
But just like you said, different brains = different perceptions.

Re: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I always thought Coverdale was trying to sound like Plant in many ways. They have somewhat similar styles as vocalists. Whitesnake music sounds far simpler than Zep. I like Whitesnake more to be honest. Part of that could be because of the recording style of the era, part of it could be the extra 8 minutes on some songs....

The answer was so obvious, he was dancing naked around the lake doing some voodoo stuff to give to his fan magical powers

Re: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Whitesnake sent Vai the CD/music all done and said, add guitar to this.
Vai erased all the guitar tracks and recorded all the guitars you hear on his own and finished the CD.
Vai never played in the studio with them at all.

Re: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I was a big fan of Slip of the Tongue. It's the only Whitesnake album I've ever owned. I used to listen to it before I started playing guitar. Back then, I had no idea who Steve Vai was.

Have you decided on pickups yet?
