your critique, por favor (pt III)

okay, you can listen to this on the condition that you don't take it as being entirely representative of what i do.

flowery wallpaper

and, having listened to it, snorted milk out your nose and regained your composure, please let me know how it made you feel.

(by the way, dave, if steve wants to use it in his set, i'll be happy to sit down and show him some of the tricky parts)

I friggin love it. Very nice mix of lyricism and excellent guitarwork. And my Mum likes it too.

Re: your critique, por favor (pt III)

testing my memory here...

i seem to remember using a les paul through my boss gt6 for the 'lecky parts... possibly also my rgt. the acoustic part was my yamaha apx. all the beat business (including a reversed hi-hat sample) was fruityloops. vocals via an sm58. recorded into adobe audition (aka cooledit pro).

Very nice tone on it. You're better than you give yourself credit for.

Re: your critique, por favor (pt III)

the bit i really regret was not saving the original mix & source files. if i still had access to those it'd be longer, without the country and western lick at the end!

my friend occasionally plays this on his late night radio show, so it's possible that i have a drunken, unemployed fan suffering from insomnia.

That was good, you have a great voice and that's some cool guitar playing. It's like John Mayer meets 80s guitar. Tio be honest, your voice + acoustic didn't really go with the solo guitar (you like your flanger, eh?), so I would say this should really be 2 songs rather than 1, but you definately have some talent.

i agree. the flanger part sounds a little out of place with your singing going on at the same time. if you want it in the song, i might save it for a solo bit and jam the lead parts together. really good vocals and guitar playing - give yourself more credit!

Re: your critique, por favor (pt III)

flanger? i'm not a flanger guy! there was a heavy flange on the "power" chords in the middle 8 section. only effect on the acoustic was some chorus, but as i tend to favour slow choruses, i guess it can sound a bit flange-y.

which bit did you mean exactly?

Re: your critique, por favor (pt III)

I meant the power chords bit at 1:34. I am not saying you used it all the time, but you rarely hear people use heavy flange like that, so it stood out to me. I am also not a huge fan of chorus and flange (I am a delay junky though), but that's just me.

I still think it was cool - your singing and playing is great, and it's a good song.
