This auction is for my Ibanez 540P SH electric guitar and case.
If you’re viewing this listing then you probably know what you’re looking at already – something of a holy grail for Ibanez collectors and one of the rarer guitars from ‘89/’90.
The guitar is 9/10 condition, but not mint – the chap I bought this guitar from shipped it from America without padding the case out properly, and so it received a few knocks in transit which later chipped (mainly where the strap pins got bashed – the case is a regular Ibanez case and so not fitted to the 540s unique shape). There are a couple of superficial marks to the paintwork, which I have done my best to show in the photos – if you require more pictures please let me know, as black is not the easiest colour to photograph well.
The hardware is all original – black chrome Edge tremolo unit, original volume pot with the 3 rubber rings, and original strap pins. I replaced the 3-way switch when the original went scratchy, but will include this anyway. The knife edges on the trem are really good for their age, and the bar is of course included. The pickup rings and strap pins are the same black chrome finish.
Pickups are the stock C2 stacked single and F3 humbucker. These were pretty good in their original form, but I wanted to clear up the sound a little without changing the look of the guitar so I had these pickups rewound on the original bobbins by Hayden at Bulldog Pickups.
The neck is a Wizard profile, 22 jumbo frets (not the later 24 fret model).
I had the cover plate for the trem cavity signed by Steve Vai, and for the sake of originality this is reluctantly included – I’ve not sprayed it with any sort of sealant, so it’s easily removable if you’re not a fan.
Guitar is in UK, and I would like £650 + P&P. If you'd like it shipping abroad, or have any questions please do get in touch. I can supply more photos if there's interest, though I can only seem to post the link in this thread so far.
