Gbase-where every RG is a 570

I've used gbase a few times before to find interesting deals. But recently, I've noticed a trend where sellers attempt to pass off guitars that are quite obviously 470s and worse as MIJ 570s. Buyer beware, I guess.

Examples:

http://www.gbase.com/gear/ibanez-rg570-1996-purple-neon

Not only is that not purple neon, but that's a football-shaped jack-plate and an AANJ body (no AANJ purple neons).

Here's a 470 in Grape Ice (a cool color that never came on MIJ RGs) with a Lo-TRS trem, also marketed as a 570.

Here's a beater with H-H pickups, no pickguard, and a Lo-TRS marketed as a 550.

Re: Gbase-where every RG is a 570

That sure looks like a 570--flush Mount jack and Edge trem. Purple Neon is hard to photograph, but looks like it should.
edit--the seller could have the date wrong.
The second one is not Grape Ice--It's Titanium Ice.
Also--Grape Ice was available on a few MIJ RGs.
I have an RG770 GI, and it was available on a few 500 series.

It's not just GBase--many sellers don't know the difference between RG models.

Look up RG570 on Guitar Center--several 470s are shown.

....and if you educate the seller, you'll usually get a reply like the one I got about the RG470 TI

"Haahah true thanks for rhe observation"

1. That's not purple neon on the first one. Even in the weirdest photo, it wouldn't magically become an AANJ body. It's also pretty clearly got a football jack, not a barrel jack.

I'd say they got the year right and it's a 1996 RG470JB.

2. You're right--the proper name was Titanium Ice--offered only on cheap models.

And yeah, I'd never write to them. I suspect the misnaming is half ignorance and half subterfuge. But folks should beware...

I see the jackplate now--thanks for lightening it.
the other photo looked like a flush in the dark.
That's not a JB, though. Could be a refinish, or a converted square heel--I have one.
