Re: Mai-Guitar?

I've been working on a lot of natural finishes lately. I bought a mega-planner that lets me do a lot more cool stuff. I like this one.

Re: Mai-Guitar?

Looks great. Wish you would do a square heel in that finish. I've got a USA Custom neck that needs a square heel.

Re: Mai-Guitar?

I would like to share my opinion about Mai-guitars, if somebody still need opinion. I`ve ordered limba body two years ago. I cannot find any other words than "Chris is abso****inlutely coolest guy in guitar making business I`ve ever meet". I`m very picky in terms of my guitars. Chris was so patient to me, it`s almost beyond believe.
Happy to see nice tops on Your bodies Chris!

Re: Mai-Guitar?

Just my .02 dealing with Chris is great and I'm very happy with the guitar body he made. I posted this in another thread but just recently refinished it this past weekend.

Re: Mai-Guitar?

Wow, that one is absolutely killer. Is it stained basswood or what is it? I like the backplates too. This looks so much better than Woody. I'd buy it.

I just bought a used swirled Mai-body and it is top notch. Can't wait to have it completed.

Thanks man, that's Korina - stained with Minwax Esspresso & Polycrylic wipe on satin clear coat. Took a little 320 paper to it post-stain to lighten it up a bit and bring back the grain.

Post your swirl when you get it finished!

Re: Mai-Guitar?

I would assume a few months, but he'll give you a timeline and try to meet that timeline. Figure on it taking a little longer than the timeline given, which is typical for custom work like this. Well worth the wait!

It took only one month for my RG korina body to be made. Addition to that I was pain in the ass. We were making body without routing for neck pocket and knobs. I was changing my mind (and filling Chris`s mailbox with tones of emails) few times and still Chris remained calmed and patient to me. Still it took only one month..... Chris is a kind of a guy, that do, what he actually declared. So no worries about delay. I assume if this would happen, it would be only minor delay.

Cheers

I`m sure You made good decision about ordering Chris`s stuff. I`m happy he still is around. Few guys doing Ibby bodies quit the business last years. I`ve been fan of RG for 20 years now. However from begning their basswood bodies sounded poor to me. Chris is great option for Ibby lovers, that want to upgrade their babies and give them special boost in terms of sound and look. I hope Chris will grow as a business owner and guitar builder
