Re: NEON Colors!

Wow...that guitar looks great, nice work.

If you don't mind me asking, are the neon colors you're getting spot on with the original Ibanez finishes, or a close equivalent? I know house of kolors has neon colors, and while close, I assume they are a little different. I'm doing a guitar over now that was originally Carotene orange, and I'm repainting with HOK Vermillion Neon which looked to me to be the closest match. I'd also love to get my hands on DY and RFR.

Thanks.

Re: NEON Colors!

I am not using HOK - I have in the past, and when first sprayed they match, but fade pretty quickly.

As much as I would like to share - I can't...Kinda keeps me a little bit valuable in the marketplace.

While I have never owned any of the Ibanez in these colors, I have been told by a few that have, and have seen my paint - that they are spot on. unfortunately pics don't do them justice either....

Thanks for your reply. I totally respect that you can't share the secret sauce. Good to know about the HOK fading. Based on your pictures it looks like you do beautiful work. Can't wait to see more.

Re: NEON Colors!

Another secret must be how you managed to capture it on camera so well. Bravo at both feats!

Re: NEON Colors!

The Camera is just my Samsung Note 3 with the right amount of lights on a white background. While the pics do look good - it's so much better in person! I don't photoshop any of my images to try and enhance them. Simply to crop them and combine them into one.

I prefer the real thing to look better than the pics...that always makes the customer happy. Not the other way around!

The other problem with HOK is they are very transparent. Very difficult to get a nice even coat...layer it up too much and you go past the color your looking for.

Re: NEON Colors!

And here we have a DY with a LNG in back...and in the WAY back is a Les Paul swirl I am completing. There is also a Nagel print in here and a Gunslinger waiting to be crackled!

Re: NEON Colors!

I'm teasing ya!

You can see the baby blue corner of it...the hold up is I am going to buy a vinyl cutter to ensure smooth lines and accuracy vs. trying to mask everything by hand.

I'm just as excited as you because I'm likely going to keep it for myself! Glad to know someone else knows what they are!

Re: NEON Colors!

I think Dan Lawrence did a lot of the Nagel guitars in the 80's.

Re: NEON Colors!

Not sure if i can post pricing here...there is a pricing link on my website. Just click the banner above "LiQuiD Fx"

Those prices are based on a body being sent to me. I can get bodies as well...

PM me - or email me from my web site...next week I should have some SK projects posted - as well as a crackle paint and the completed LP swirl!
