Different story completey.
Yes--they used to make exacy copies of Les Pauls and Explorers (original Destroyer)--but they had the Ibanez logo.

These are counterfeits.

Re: rare electric guitars??

Ah, so it's the registered names that is the problem. You know someone will try to sell them on Ebay as originals.

Yeah that sucks.

Exactly!

This is why Rich shuts down the eBay ads, etc...

Re: rare electric guitars??

If they are such well made guitars, why can't they just make their own brand?

No credibility, and they'd rather cash in on known cash-cows.
Who said they are well made?
Have you seen the neck heel?
Looks like someone took a hacksaw to it.
A member posted pivs a few years ago.
Youtube has videos, too.

Oh, I was just basing it on a few posters in here. I will go look at them.

Thanks!

Re: rare electric guitars??

They need to make these guitars WITHOUT the logos. The thing is, Gibson wouldn't be losing money to this company because those that HAVE to revert to doing so couldn't afford a real Gibson anyhow.

But yeah, the logos need to come off.

Re: rare electric guitars??

How do you think Karl Sandoval feels about the counterfeit polka dot V?

Re: rare electric guitars??

Didn't know he was still making them..
http://karlsandoval.com

But I didn't see a logo on the headsctock.

I see guys in here all the time making custom "Jem" and Satch model guitars in this forum that aren't made by Ibanez for other people.

Hell the Gibson Les Paul used on GNRs AFD wasn't made by Gibson.

Re: rare electric guitars??

It's like VanHalen trying to sue anyone that makes a guitar that looks ANYTHING like his old red one...

I think some people go a bit too far with it.

If you mean tribute guitars... Quality aside, they are just as bad as other copies. For some reason many accept an Ibanez logo on the homemade stuff, but rage over the copies from (mainly) China.

It's a hot potato, it's best to just have your opinion and not voice it too often.

The guys here make "tribute" guitars for THEMSELVES--and usually in finishes never available on a stock model.
They don't mass produce counterfeits and sell as the real deal.

This topic has been beat to death over the years--just use the search feature to see past discussions. ...
