2 heads 1 cab possibility?

I have a mesa single rectifier with matching cab and just got a jcm 2000 in my grasps also. The marshall came cabless but was a great deal so i had to go for it. Here is my question.

Is there a way to hook both my heads up to the one mesa cab? Is there any danger? And lastly, how would i do it?

Here are some pics of the ins/outs of the amps/cab:

Hopefully it can be done with two speaker cables cause that is how many i have haha. Will buy more if i need to though. ;-)

Re: 2 heads 1 cab possibility?

Well if you get them to run into the cab so then it runs stereo at the same amount of ohms then it should be fine. After actually looking, you can. Plug your Marshall into the top left jack and from that line, plug it that into the middle of your speaker outs on the marshall and change your ohm selector to 4 ohms. Then do the same with your other amp only plug that into the bottom left port and you'll be all set.

Also, make sure that each side can support the amount of wattage you're putting in.

Re: 2 heads 1 cab possibility?

well my mesa is a 50 watt

my marshall is a 100 watt

the cab says its 280 watts, divide that by two and it is 140 each side?

Will i be ok?

Also if i get an a/b switch box and have them both active at the same time on one cab, will that be ok?

Re: 2 heads 1 cab possibility?

Oh you will be ok. But you will have to put the AB before the amps and not in the speaker line. Make sure you have a noise supressor in the effects loop of both of you can just to make sure you dont get any ambient noise. So guitar-A/B switch-amps-effects loops w/noise suppressors(this is optional)-cabs. So yes you will be safe, no problem at all. Good luck on this and I want samples.

A boss AB-2 2-Way Selector. Get it for around 40 bucks new so you can set it up to switch between different outputs or even different inputs. I checked harmony central and they say it doesn't affect the tone at all so this is the one for you. I dont know if there's an option to blend the two or not. Do you just want to switch between the two or do you want to use both at once at some point? This is taken from the site.

Affordable A/B selector with 1-click operation and silent switching

2-way selector for using A/B input with one output, or vice-versa

Instantly change guitars, effects setups or amplifiers, or switch between an amp and tuner

Re: 2 heads 1 cab possibility?

I can do without them both at the same time, i'm just looking to switch between the two amps for different tone. Since i love boss and it's not that expensive, it looks like a good option. Thanks for the reply!

Re: 2 heads 1 cab possibility?

Say if i was to get the Boss AB-2, could i then get two Boss FS-6s (one for each amp) and then latch them all together? I noticed all boss foot switches can be connected. Do you think this is a good idea wizard?

Re: 2 heads 1 cab possibility?

Also is it safe for me and my buddy to play through both heads with the one cab (we both get our own head but share the same cab)

Re: 2 heads 1 cab possibility?

Im not sure about the cab sharing. The sound might come out very muddied. You have two different sounds coming out of one box and the bass is going to mess with the overall sound of both sides. Try to get another cab if you want two people playing.
