5150 owners!

The other guitar player in my band is getting a 5150 combo soon, and he's wanting to know about running a BBE Sonic Maximizer through it. I've heard a lot of people use these things with the 5150 with good results. So, what model should he get? Our band does mostly prog metal, and we both use 7-strings. Also, would the BBE make much of a differance through my Line 6 Ax212?

I think the BBE would work well with anything you are running. I use the 462, although it is not hooked up right now. I had the 5150 stack and the combo. The BBE just brings it to "life". Check out the BBE site to see what it actually does to the signal. I used more low end than the bright adjustment, the 5150's are pretty bright as is ;-)

I have the 5150 combo with a BBE Sonic Maximizer and it helped out A LOT. It smoothed out the distortion line a great deal.

I use the 262? (single channel, half rack size) on my 5150 w/Mesa cab and it works great. I really just use it to bring out the bottom end chunck.
I did not get the same results with my 5150 combo due to speakers, cabinet, etc...

The BBE stuff is just awesome. I use a 482 in my rack and it just makes everything jump out at you.

I don't think you can go wrong with one of these.

I used to run the 482 in stereo with my POD Pro and Mesa Power amp. It really helped take the blanket off the whole rig. the sound just opens up more. It is hugely noticable on heavily distorted tones and crystal clean tones. You won't be disappointed.
