Which amp to buy ....... ???

Gday all...

I got 3K AUD to spend on a combo amp... dont have room for something bigger then a 2x12 in my car...

I have a Boss GT-10 and would like an amp that allows to be switched by the GT-10..

The GT-10 switches with a midi or a standard jack system....

I am in a metal band, so that may help suggestions...

Cheers !!

Julien

If you play metal I would highly suggest a JSX 2x12 Combo or a Carvin V3 Combo.

Re: Which amp to buy ....... ???

If money is a problem = mesa dc-5 (old series with awesome tones from clean to metal)
If money is not a problem = mark IV or dual rectifier.
If money Really is not a problem = mesa road king II or mark V

+10000

I'd go for a Mark IV or Recto before I got a Mark V though...Cheaper and equally awesome.

Re: Which amp to buy ....... ???

None of the Mesas have MIDI and the Mark V would be tough to switch with the GT-10. Not sure about the others. If you're going to use the GT-10 for your distortion, I'd go with the 6505. If you're going to use the GT-10 just for FX, look at a better amp.

Cheers,

Race

Re: Which amp to buy ....... ???

Well...Personally I believe that every amp mentioned above is GREAT for want you play BUT...

...You might wanna do some research first or listen to them in person before you buy anything.

Personally I like Mesa boogie but I find that they sound way too civilized for Metal To my ears it sounds like the 6505 has all the B*lls you need to play metal

Another thing you might want to consider is weight...you don't wanna carry a 40kg amp around unless ofcourse you won't be moving it alot

Dumb comment cause tastes are subjective, what is good to one is crap to the other.
He asked which amp is good for metal and not which amp you like the most.

Re: Which amp to buy ....... ???

Thanks for suggestions... I have the chance to buy a Mesa boogie Roadster rectifier in mint Condition. My mate bought it in the US, had it shipped to Aus and its been sitting in his room ever since, and I know he doesn't play it, cause he is to busy traveling the world lucky bugger...

I can get it from him for $3000AUD and put in another $400 to convert to AUS...

Im seriously considering it...

I wouldn't mind checking out the Peavey 6505 I will have to visit a shop that has one...

Dont mind carrying a 40kg amp to a gig, but I can also go direct from my gt-10 into a PA if I can be bothered... guess it depends on the size of the gig...

keep them suggestions comming

Another comment about personal tastes.

It doesn't matter if you prefer peavey or mesa, that's not the point cause just because you prefer peavey it doesn't means HIS ears will prefer too!

And seriously no matter how tastes are personal saying buying any mesa is wasting money is...........hmmm...........nonsense.
Even if he bought a mesa and hate it still heu could make good money with a mesa.
In my country used rectos are about 4.000-5000 usd!
I bet in Australia they're expensive too.

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY......................ANYTHING not only peavey or mesa.

please read the sentence and do not interpred things that I never wrote...

I would never say mesas are a waste. I own a dual rec myself and love it....
what I am suggesting is: he should check out the jsx, as for many people playing metal it is sufficient or, depending on taste, better than a mesa. hence he would waste money on something that is more expensive when there is the chance he would be ok with something cheaper. of course if he checks the jsx and doesnt like it, by all mrans get the mesa, it is an excellent amp.

I hope now you got me....
