Anyone tried the Sansamp Tri-AC

Has anyone tried one of these gadgets as the spec looks very good.

Thinking of running through the FX Loop Return on my JCM900, should give me 3 usable channels.

Anyone?

Re: Anyone tried the Sansamp Tri-AC

I had the Tri-OD. A retailer/friend of mine said the Tri-AC is just an updated Tri-OD and I LOVED my Tri-OD. The only reason I sold mine is because I got good money for it after they discontinued it, and because I could make all those sounds with my rack preamps. The JCM900 pretty much has a solid state preamp anyway, when it comes to the overdrive. The Sansamp will definitely be an improvement in both flexibility and versatility. But DON'T rule out the Hughes & Kettner Tubemans. That would put a good tube front end on that Marshall, with similar features.

Re: Anyone tried the Sansamp Tri-AC

The Tri-OD seems more like a stompbox for driving amps, and the Tri-AC is more of a preamp for direct recording and using in conjunction with a power amp. That's at least what I gather from their site. I tried the Tri-AC for a short while, and I wasn't as impressed as I was with the sounds of the Trademark amps, but it sounded alright. I don't think it was running into a tube power amp though, so maybe that's important. I would suggest to go for one if you can find it cheap enough.

Re: Anyone tried the Sansamp Tri-AC

I have one in my pedalbox full-time.
I doubt I could live without it.
