Axe FX setup

Hey, Folks.

I've been hearing great things about the Axe FX and I'm aware some of you have been converted as well. I'm just confused as too what you need to run this baby.

I was looking at the wiki page and it kept on mentioning a power amp. This isn't really needed is it?

I'm pretty sure some ways you can run this bad boy.

Axe fx > Interface > Computer or just the axe fx to a amp that's miced.

They're pretty simple to setup right?

I'm thinking if I get this for my home playing I'll just run it through a pair of monitors. However, I do like the amp feel so If I play live I'll just get a decent tube amp.

Any info would be great.

Anyone on here who has one that lives in central illinois by chance? I would love to hear on of these before I buy. I'm always a little weary when it comes to this short of thing.

Re: Axe FX setup

It's pretty much everything you've heard, and then some...and improving every time Cliff, the guy who owns Fractal, and designed it, releases another FREE firmware update. I think toneboy lives in Central Illinois...I used to, but now I'm a Hawaii resident...shoot him a PM, I'm sure he'd help you out.

Re: Axe FX setup

Multiple ways

Axe-fx -> poweramp -> cab
Axe-fx -> direct to pa
axe-fx -> powered monitor
axe-fx -> recording interface
axe-fx -> effects loop of amp -> cab
amp -> axe-fx in fx loop -> cab

and more...

Re: Axe FX setup

I use:

Guitar -> Axe FX -> PA
-------------------> Powered Floor Monitor

For Controlling: Ground Control (prolly a cheaper MIDI controller will do as this thing is way overpriced, but I got it as a budget sale in a store that closed down...)
