Bass top material?

Ok, not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes.

I'm thinking of getting myself a bass, i'm mainly looking at the Peavy Cirrus BXP
5 string basses, i'm only looking for a good solid 5 string bass to record with, they seem to be very good value for what you get.

Now to my question.

These basses come in three different tops:

Dark wood (The peavey site says it's mahogany but all the UK sites i have found say Dark wood )
Quilt top tiger eye
Bubinga

I was wondering what, if any, the sonic differences are between these tops.
And what would you recomend. I am aiming for something very versatile that can cover metal, rock and some softer stuff.

cheers in advance.

You can see these basses here: http://peavey.com/products/browse.cf...0/5-String.cfm
