Best boost for legacy

I've been thinking about experimenting with one. What would you get and why?

Forgot to include other, please specify if you have another option for me to consider

Keeley TS9 FTW. The TS9 is an awesome boost stock, but I can't imagine how awesome it would be after Robert got his hands on it.

I'd also consider a TS808.

I'm not sure about the baked mod, this will be my only boost and I'm not sure if I want all that gain

Re: Best boost for legacy

If you don't want the gain, don;t turn the gain knob up .

My Keeley TS9DX is great as a boost.

Re: Best boost for legacy

I don't know anyone who's used one with a Legacy, but there's a number of guys on sevenstring.org who are using Bodenhamer Electronics modded TS7's and TS9's with their Rectifiers, and the general consensus is they destroy stock tube screamers for the application. His pricing is pretty reasonable, too.

I haven't triied one yet (I'm mailing mine out today for work), but if you're using a Tube Screamer primarily as a boost for an already distorted tube amp a la Andy Sneap, then these are sort of tailored for the application (though, evidently they sound better used as a straight OD as well - again, I'll be able to post my thoughts sometime next week, if I get out in time to stick mine in the mail today.
