best modeling unit for jcm 800 and mesa rectifier sounds.

I'm looking for thoughts on what modeling/multi fx's units you guys think have the best jcm 800 and mesa rectifier sounds. They both don't need to be in the same unit I would just like to know what everybody thinks. Mainly looking at things like the pod, pod xt, V amp pro, korg ax1500, whatever boss's multi's are. I would also like to hear if anybody has used berhinger's two different modeling heads. Now don't get me wrong I don't want to just use cheap units like that but for the purpose of this thread i'm curious in comparing units under say $500-600.

The BOSS GT-8 is a good one to use too, but it cost a little more $$$.

For $600 you could score a used DSL 401 combo...

Behringer X V-Amp, give it a try for US$100.

A DSL is not going to pull off any JCM 800 like tones though.

Closer than you might think, man - the 401 was easily my favorite of the DSL/TSL series I've played. Loads of gain when cranked up (significantly more than the TSL I used to own), but it still got pretty crunchy at more moderate settings, and had a nice, glassy clean channel, too.
