Bobbin Toppers?

I recently stumbled upon the universaljems site (which you all probably know of ), and I was wondering what you guys think of the quality.
Any of you order the bobbin toppers from them? What are they, like a vinyl sticker? Any body to them, or just a paper-thin sticker?

Pics would be extremely helpful if any of you have put them on your guitars.

Oh, and I also want to make sure that my p'ups are standard space hums. I have a JP RG470, with V7, S1, and V8.

Re: Bobbin Toppers?

Apparently they peel off and start to look bad after a while.

Re: Bobbin Toppers?

I have them on a few of mine, white ones. They have not peeled at all and look fine. I previously had the chrome toppers and one did start to peel off. Just on one edge from my right palm rubbing against it. The rest of it stayed on.

Here are white ones: http://community.webshots.com/photo/...43366685SOBARP

Re: Bobbin Toppers?

Those are very nice, especially the chrome ones. When you look at them closer at a slight angle, does it seem obvious that they are just Toppers? I'm having a hard time finding DiMarzios in the right color, and I might consider 'toppers as well.

Re: Bobbin Toppers?

Thought about toppers, too, as I get tired of trying to hunt down the right pickups in the right colors.

I don't know how close you look at your guitar (LOL) but you really can't tell (if you apply them right) from a few feet away. I wasn't going to pay for new chrome Dimarzios when thell just flake/chip off again............

Re: Bobbin Toppers?

There also is a guy, Jeannies Pickguards I believe that makes pickup "Toppers" out of a thin mirror plastic, similar to pickguard material but thinner. There also is a guy on that web auction site that starts with E and ends with Y who sells mirror pickup "toppers" for single coils - not sure if he does humbuckers. aiguitars is his handle.
