Building a new rig-help needed!!

hi guys! so finally i have decided to upgrade my rig. I own a jackson rr3, and an ibanez prestige rg3550mz.
For last 4 years or little less i have been using my pod x3 live. Now, see i am a noob and i am not really a vintage tube amp guy.. :P. So i might make stupid statements, bear with me please.... i have enough money to afford a tc g force2 or a gsp 1101. Now i heard g force is a effects unit, not an amp modeller. But i already have the x3 live to work in that matter. So should i go for the g force 2 and combo it with my x3 live? coz obviously g force has better effects than the x3 live and i can use that while the x3 acts as a pre amp. if so how do i combo it? do i keep it in my main signal chain ie guitar to g force to x3 live or other way around? or use it in the x3 lives fx loop??

or should i just chuck this stupid idea and buy a gsp1101?? is it better than this combo would be??

What's your budget, and what sort of styles do you want to play?

i have enough money to just afford a g force or a gsp1101....if i sell my x3 live then i would get some more but i reaally dont want to, coz i love it really! and i play mainly progressive with hi gain and some lush cleans. so i need the versatility.

Re: Building a new rig-help needed!!

Over the years I've spent over $20,000 trying different rigs.
Ten years ago I bought myself a Rocktron Prophecy and I have yet to hear something that can out do it.
It is not a modeling device, its a real preamp.

I can dial in any tone my ears and brain can dream up!

It has every effect I could ever want and enough memory to run as many of them as I want in one patch.
I use a MIDI floorboard to turn effects on and off within each patch I setup and control the best Wah Wah I've ever heard.
The Wah makes no noise at all, it just makes with the Wah!

The Prophecy also has-

Stereo in and out effects loop
Tuner
XLR outs with a very customizable Speaker / Mic simulator
The ability to dump or load one or all of the presets to you computer or direct connect to another Prophecy to trade presets
It has many other great features, this is just a few off the top of my head.

Re: Building a new rig-help needed!!

I see them used for $400-$450 all the time.
They are $1200 or $1300 NEW.
The Prophecy 1 and Prophecy 2 are exactly the same, just the factory presets are different.
You can download either set of presets and dump them in to either 1 or 2.
Check GCs used gear, I think I saw one there for $350 used the other day.

If I were you, I'd contact one of the GCs that has a used one and find out about it.

Re: Building a new rig-help needed!!

I use this with a full band and it cuts through.

I have a lot of different tones I like.

I have tones for-

Classic rock
Mr. Big Tone
Racer X tone
Vinnie Moore
Petrucci Tone
Vai Tone
Van Halen Tone
Metal Thrash Tone
Blues - sort of that EC From the Cradle Tone
Nice clean Jazz Tones
SRV Blue Tone
The Harmonizer tracks really fast too!
