Can't decide... JSX or JCM2000 DSL 100

Bah i have both amps in my basment now.... and I have likes and dislikes about both. I don't know wich one to stick with and wich to get rid of.. i need help...

I have them both plugged into a Marshall B cab... and well the JSX does the chugging and galloping really well i find but i get CRAZY amounts of squeling and feed back when i put it up to like 4 ... Now the DSL 100 dosn't do the galloping and chugging as well i think but it dosn't feed back the same...

I need help.. i mean i would stick with the JSX if i could fix or resolve the feedback issue... what does everyone suggest?

Oh and i'm running a SZ520 with JB duncans in the bridge location

did u try the noise gate on the jsx? i would go with the jsx. i have played the jcm 2000 lots of times at my friends house. it lacks gain and i dont even like the sound of the distortion.iv only played the jsx combo at a very low volume and liked it better than the jcm

Just turn down the gain on the JSX, its got more than anyone would ever need. I seriously run it on 3 on the crunch channel, never even use the Ultra. Just crunch and clean.

If its really feeding back for no reason, swap the preamp tubes around and see if it helps.

It may be the first preamp tube, if it is microphonic, it will feedback and squeal too easy. Try switching the first preamp tube, should be the one closest to the input, with one of the others.

Tubes are not covered by Peavey warranty. The place you got it from might give you a new one though. I do agree with the tube suggestion. My JSX doesn't squeal or feedback at all, and I've had it louder then 4!

It's not a defect, tubes are like light bulbs and need to be changed periodically, and some sooner than others. The tube may not be bad, just more microphonic than the rest. That's why I said try exchanging it with another preamp tube that's in the amp. If it is a little microphonic it will probably be fine in one of the other slots, just not the first one.

Re: Can't decide... JSX or JCM2000 DSL 100

I chose the JSX over the following amps: DSL, TSL, XXX, 5150II, Mesa MKIV, Dual Recto, Carvin Legacy and Riviera TBR50. It took me about a month to play them all. I had to keep notes after I tried each amp so that I could refer back to what I liked most about them. On the day I tried the JSX, I also played a DSL for about an hour. The Peavey just seemed more full and musical.
