Can't Get A Decent tone Out Of My Digitech GSP 1101

I just got this GSP 1101 and i can't for the life of me get any decent tones out of it,what i mean is the distortion sounds too processed, sounds like Paul Gilberts tone.Way too digital.I admit I have not done a lot of editing, but the presets all suck for the most part.I have a Kustom 36 coupe tube amp,I tried it using my amps preamp, then using the GSP's preamp.Seemed like it was better using the GSP preamp but still sounded crappy. How do i tell which version of the firmware i have?I bought this off Ebay, and if i can't get any help getting any good tones it will be going back to Ebay along with the C2 pedal.

Anyone that can help me get a better sound will be much appreciated.I play Breakin Benjamin,Disturbed,Tool etc

Re: Can't Get A Decent tone Out Of My Digitech GSP 1101

I have a Digitech Valve FX (wich I don't use it anymore) and the sound a can get it's pretty decent, but you need to work a lot in those patches, and yup, the standard patches from digitech always suck big time. Erase them all and start working on it.

The problem with those multieffects is that they don't give you everything you want. Maybe a decent delay, but a terrible compresor, maybe a good EQ but a terrible distortion and is not posible to get a decent sound if you don't work a lot on that thing... and if you do it, the result is not marvelous like you could want to sound. That's why I don't use my valve FX anymore (even if somebody could think my patches sound good).

My advise for you, is:

- Put on that thing a label that says "for sale"... and if you want a good distortion, good delay, good compressor... find wampler pedals man. My digitech valve fx is crap next to those pedals.

Cheers

le sigh.

Yeah, the presets are all bad, make your own tone from the ground up, and tweak like heck!!

Re: Can't Get A Decent tone Out Of My Digitech GSP 1101

for importing patches to your unit i think you will need the digitech x-edit:
http://www.digitech.com/en-US/softwares/x-edit

and here is a tutorial for the x-edit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW1qkMfdb0w

i think you should read the user manual to get more familiar with the unit

Re: Can't Get A Decent tone Out Of My Digitech GSP 1101

did you install the x-edit on your pc i think its the easiest way to edit and load presets remember to install the drivers for gsp 1101 first
