Re: Checklist For Gigging Players............

1) Do you change strings for every gig?
Not unless the stage axe had a string change within the last week or so, if they're good, they stay on there.

2) Do you bring backup a guitar?
Always.

3) Do you bring a backup amp?
No, but I bring a backup preamp tube pedal that can plug into a mixing board.

4) Do you practice the gig tunes alone before a gig?
I try to but mainly just the songs I'm not familiar with.

5) Where do you keep extra picks on stage - taped on mic stand, or?
I used to tape them to the back of the headstock, now I have them in random places, like a stand of some sort. I don't drop them too often, but if I do, I use my fingers until the song is through.

6) Do you wear special cloths?
Depends, if it's a new shirt, I'll sport it..

7) Where do you put setlists on stage?
Taped to the floor in larger font to read from a distance.

Re: Checklist For Gigging Players............

1) Do you change strings for every gig?
Depends on their state. But I tend to change them every two/three weeks.

2) Do you bring backup a guitar?
Absolutely. Always.

3) Do you bring a backup amp?
Nope. Only got one

4) Do you practice the gig tunes alone before a gig?
I go over certain parts that I'm not to confident about to make sure it sticks.

5) Where do you keep extra picks on stage - taped on mic stand, or?
One in the pick pocket of the strap, the rest on the mic stand.

6) Do you wear special cloths?
Jeans, and a t-shirts will do. Oh and sweat bands on my right wrist.

7) Where do you put setlists on stage?
Next to the pedals. In big writing since my eyesight is not the best.

Re: Checklist For Gigging Players............

1) Do you change strings for every gig?
No, I change strings every 2-3 months, but regularly clean/inspect them for rust or bends.

2) Do you bring backup a guitar?
Only for big shows, other than that, no.

3) Do you bring a backup amp?
No.

4) Do you practice the gig tunes alone before a gig?
Yes, at home, I go through our set a few times and then over some covers just for fun.

5) Where do you keep extra picks on stage - taped on mic stand, or?
On top of my amp, pocket or a pick holder on my pedalboard.

6) Do you wear special cloths?
http://www.squirrellyarts.com/images/Zo_resized.jpg

7) Where do you put setlists on stage?
We don't, just have to remember whats coming up, but I will start doing that soon because it gets distracting.

I will put it right in front of my pedalboard, as I'm in front of that a lot.

Re: Checklist For Gigging Players............

1. Depends on when the last time I changed them was.

2. Yes, you have to if you use a floating trem guitar.

3. No, have enough gear to lug without a second amp.

4. Of course, and ditto to the mirror thing. I always get a kick out of seeing the faces I make when I'm trying to pull off a solo, which I think of to help me not feel nervous because they make me laugh.

5. I usually have a few picks sitting on my pedal board.

6. Sort of. I don't wear any gear with band references. Other than that, I usually wear something in the style-vein for whatever gig I'm doing.

7. I have a piece of paper I tape to the top of my amp if it's a small stage, to the floor by my pedalboard if a larger one.

Re: Checklist For Gigging Players............

It's been a while, but from memory

1) Do you change strings for every gig?

No. Every two weeks or so on the PRS CE24 and as often as the Jem needed them. The acoustic got 4 hours of play between string changes and the N4 got her strings swapped maybe once a month.

2) Do you bring a backup guitar?

I played 2 electrics and brought 3 usually. I went without a backup for the acoustic.

3) Do you bring a backup amp?

No, at the end I was using a solid state amp that was pretty dependable. I did bring spare tubes when I was playing tube amps though.

4) Do you practice the gig tunes alone before a gig?

No; warmups yeah but not the songs generally unless it was a 'first time out' song.

5) Where do you keep extra picks on stage - taped on mic stand, or?

On top of the amp, usually in an ash tray

6) Do you wear special clothes?

Clean yes, special no Ok, for a gig or two in the late 80's I had one of those red Alex Lifeson jackets I wore with a purple shirt, yellow tie and white pants. I looked and felt ridiculous but I fit in with the band at the time, which did too much Rush

7) Where do you put set lists on stage?

My copy was usually taped to the floor right in front of the mic stand.

Red face Re: Checklist For Gigging Players............

1) Do you change strings for every gig?

Nope...see #2

2) Do you bring backup a guitar?

I bring my 12 string Ovation, and my Ibanez hollowbody as my backups for my Brian Moore...

3) Do you bring a backup amp?

I play covers as a solo performer, so i just bring my [email protected] pa

4) Do you practice the gig tunes alone before a gig?

Usually just to stay fresh like the day before

5) Where do you keep extra picks on stage - taped on mic stand, or?

Pockets, or on music stand

6) Do you wear special cloths?

Jeans, cool shirt, and my Mark Nason boots!!!

7) Where do you put setlists on stage?

I thumb through a binder of lyrics as I go, so my set is never the same, and I'm always adding new tunes, and I love having people come up and warble a few tunes with me...

Re: Checklist For Gigging Players............

1) Change strings before every gig?
Yes, but I don't gig often.

2) Backup guitar?
Depends on what tunings I'm using, but where possible, yes.

3) Backup amp?
If I had one, I would. Once I get a new amp, I probably will.

4) Practice alone?
Definitely.

5) Spare picks?
I have little pick holders on the back of the headstocks of 3 of my 4 guitars, other spares are taped to the front of the amp.

6) Special clothes?
Not usually, but for my last gig we decided to have a little fun so I wore a suit which I'd spray painted silver.

7) Setlist?
Taped down next to my pedalboard at front of stage.

Re: Checklist For Gigging Players............

I don't gig much anymore, but...

1) Do you change strings for every gig? No - I use Elixirs so there's almost never the need.

2) Do you bring backup a guitar? Generally.

3) Do you bring a backup amp? No.

4) Do you practice the gig tunes alone before a gig? Of course. I'm always practicing.

5) Where do you keep extra picks on stage - taped on mic stand, or? Sitting on top of my amp head.

6) Do you wear special cloths? Eh, just something I like. As long as I'm comfortable, I'm good.

7) Where do you put setlists on stage? I've never bothered with one, to be honest.
