Colored guitar strings

What is the best brand of colored guitar strings?

Can you guys who have used them point me to some links and tell me what you think about them?

I am looking to get some and I'm used to Earnie ball super slinky but I want to try black strings (to hide the tarnish) just kidding.......I Just want to try black but have not seen any... only blue and red.

So if you guys could give me some insight as to how they feel and where to get them I would be thankful.

Thanks,
Danger

Re: Colored guitar strings

I had a set of black beautys to try em out..

Only problem is the color wears off almost immediatly where you pick the strings.

I would not buy them again, I didnt care for the tone of them either.

Re: Colored guitar strings

I hate DR strings. I had a set that corroded on me within a week. Over-priced, over-hyped pieces of junk. D'Addario FTW.

As far as brands that do colored strings, DR is the only company.

Re: Colored guitar strings

well damn I thought it would be cool to try 'em ..sounds like there would be a market for it if someone could make them good enough to stay colored and not corrode. ........oh well.....thanks for the replies guys.

Re: Colored guitar strings

The black ones are a bit weird to get used to, someone i knew was using them and said it was a bit weird on stage every so often as it's like they dissapear if you have a rosewood board! More for looks than practicality basically.

Re: Colored guitar strings

heh yeah I was thinking black on maple........but what a trip it would be to think or have it seem like your strings disappeared. Anyway probably not going to waste my time on this anymore as it doesn't seem like it would be worth the hassle.

Re: Colored guitar strings

I use the shiny nickel steel colored D'Addario XL120 strings. They usually wear out or break before they turn color enough for me to notice.

Re: Colored guitar strings

On second thought, when the black coating wears off you can fill it back in with a sharpie!

Not for me.

Re: Colored guitar strings

does anyone else not like the looks? i thought one of my friends hadnt changed the strings on one of his guitars in years, then he told me they were colored strings hahaha. i can see the red and blue ones, but black just looks really dirty to me. just my opinion, not starting a war here

Re: Colored guitar strings

They show wear at first use and look like complete crap if they last a week.

Re: Colored guitar strings

Black Diamond makes some black strings i believe. Too gimmicky for my taste.

Re: Colored guitar strings

I tried the black, red and blue ones.
At first I thought they looked cool, which is why I tried them...but one thing about them that I noticed is that they sounded fresher longer if that makes any sense.
I use D'Addario XL110's, but was impressed how much longer the DR's sounded crisp and bright in comparison to the XL110's.
Then again, they cost twice as much as the XL110's, so it's kind of a wash really.
