Compressor?

Ok, so in my normal set up I have a boss GT-10 going into a Laney amp 4 cable method. I use the Laney for the distortion and the GT-10 really only for modulations and delays.
I use a couple of guitars live and am having problems keeping the clean and dirty volumes matched as I change from one guitar to another, for example, Jem position 2 or 4 clean and bridge or neck HB for dirty balances ok, now swap to telecaster, clean is too loud compared to dirty.
Would a compressor (the GT-10 has one I just never use it) be a good idea? Or is there another suggestion?
Cheers,
Jim

Re: Compressor?

It should help, of course. But, plugging a compressor in just for that, even if it's the one in the GT-10 might create other problems. Wouldn't be better to have two set of patches? One of the Jem and one of the Tele?

You could try a volume pedal?

Re: Compressor?

I use a volume in the effects loop, the problem is not so much that the guitar outputs are different, but that there is a relative difference between pickup selections from one guitar to another...

Re: Compressor?

Maybe you just need to adjust your pickup heights so they are all balanced???
