Unhappy Cube 15 + ME-50

Hey there!

I'm having lots of trouble trying to dial in some decent tones... My goal is to get a) racer x distorted tone and b) high gain tone with sustain (vai's p&w tone).

My tone gets muddy, note definition = 0, sounds like a telephone...you name it.

The ME-50's distortion unit is composed by 12 pedals (or something like that, not important) and you have 4 knobs: distortion, bottom, tone and level. The DS-1, MT-2 and the Guv'nor are the best pedals. Besides the distortion unit the ME-50 has a compressor with two controls: sustain and level, and a Tone Enhance feature where you can do some equalization work.

Help me out buildin some decent tones!

Thanks in advance

(PS: RG550, bridge X2N,middle S1,neck V7)

I have an me-50........don't use the distortion part.

Dial in a decent distortion tone on the cube then adjust compression to your liking.

I have the ME50, the distortions aren't that great, but the delay and other modulation effects are really good

Re: Cube 15 + ME-50

I think the ME50 has fine distortions just needing some extra low end, you can probably make a decent Racer X with the DS1 or metal distortions with the gain and bottem on high and tone a little higher than the middle, playing around with the distortions for a while will get you to be able to learn what each one sounds like and how to find a lot of sounds out of them...

unfortunately mine was dropped and the drive knob popped off, so I opened it, switched the drive and compression knob through soldering (i can live without compression) and now it just goes crazy and the top row of knobs flashes on and off everytime i turn it on so sad

Re: Cube 15 + ME-50

I had an ME-50. I didn't use the distortion when playing "out" (I just used everything else). When practicing, I used it into my old Marshall Lead 12. I found with rare exception, the distortion was useless. I was able to a Vox-ish rhythm-thing going, but little more. Sorry.
