A/DA Vintage Splitstack

Hey, I found two A/DA Splitstack Vintage 2x12 vertical slant cabs for $250 for the pair.

They're so damn portable, Im really liking the idea of having a dual 2x12s

I did a quick search of www.adadepot.com and www.harmonycentral.com and information about these is pretty slim.

Right now, I have a Laney Pro Tube 100w head, and a Carvin X100B head, and will probably find a Carvin Legacy in my life in the relatively near future.

I know as a general rule, ADA makes good stuff. I would love to hear from some owners or previous owners how ADA's cabinets perform.

Re: A/DA Vintage Splitstack

I think they offered them with different speakers, so there's no telling what's in there. Although they're probably Celestions, I couldn't tell you which ones. When you say "vintage 2x12's" do you mean they have Vintage 30's in them?

My only recollection of them is that they were a little thin and mushy, but that was over 15 years ago, and we were all trying to get different tones back then vs. today. It might be time to rediscover them. Worst case scenario is you can probably sell the Celestions for good money and have some nice cabs. The vertical 2X12 sounded good to me with a V30 on top and EV on the bottom. Some knockoff cabs came that way back then, and I liked those. I've got J.F. Naylors (vintage Jensen style) in my 2x12 and I love it. But I usually use it side-by-side, and it's larger than those ADA's.

For portability, I always loved using a pair of Mesa's 1x12's. Those really kicked. Even their vertical 2x12 is wider and "thumpier" sounding. But you can't beat $250 for the pair of ADA's. It's virtually a no-lose deal for you. You'll profit or at least get your money back if you don't like them.

$250 for the pair? Jump on that! You can always auction off them off for that if you don't like them (and I hear they rock).

Re: A/DA Vintage Splitstack

They had 2 designs, regular Split-stack , and Split-stack vintage.

They are the vintage ones. They DO have Celestions, 50w ones (100w each cab) but they aren't Vintage 30's (unless they were replaced)

I may just go get them.
