Differences in Carvin Amps

Is there much of a difference between the Carvin MTS and Legacy? And if so, in what ways are they different? (Talking soundwise here.)

I thought it was mainly the power tubes, but apparently they are 2 completely different monsters. From what I understand, the MTS has more gain. I have the Legacy, and I love it. Although, at times, I wish I could push it the gain to 11 ;-)

Well, what I'm looking for is Fender-amp cleans with a distortion kinda like in the song "House Full of Bullets" by Satch...I'm not worried about the EQ he has on that song, just that general distorted tone he gets across...any ideas guys?

I can dial in something VERY similar on the second channel of my Egnater TOL100.

Well, I'm looking for at least a 2x12 combo, tube, and keep it under 900 or at the very most 1000 USD.

Go for a legacy head and 2x12 .... you can use pedal and preamp multieffects to have more sounds and different gains.

Well, if you're lucky, you can buy an Egnater TOL100 2x12 combo for less than $850.

I have a carvin dealer 5 mins from my house and i went down there 2 days ago to compare the MTS and legacy side by side......

They are 2 totally different amps. The legacy doesn't have the gain that the MTS has and also sounded more 'vintage' than the MTS.

MTS had more modern sounding tones to me....

Won't sound too much (if any) different, but leaves you some future options, like adding another 2x12(which you could also do with the combo), or swapping it for a 4x12 (or 4x10!) or ditching the Legacy for a different head it you find out that it's not your cup of tea.If you don't like it you'll only need to sell the head (which is a bit easier than the selling the combo IMO). I run a Rivera through a pair of Legacy 2x12s and like it very much thank you! And you MAY be able to do it for $900-$1000 if you buy used. You'll also be able to spend the $$$$$ you save from not going to the chiropractor on other cool gear ( sorry glen ), it's a lot easier to lug a head and 2x12 than it is a combo. Also easier to stash in a small car (if you got one.....).

FWIW,
-bill

that was what I wanted to say , thx wyldbill!
I am sure you can find MTS or legacy head + 2x12 for less than 900
from carvin catalogue the MYS + a 2x12 is less than 850$

I won't go for a combo, i am not a bodybuilder!...almost 80lbs and it s huge, no thx!!!!
a head and a 2x12 is cool to carry.

and if you love the fender amp.. go for it ! they are good amp, , personnally I really like the fender clean and distortion sound.
anyway there are tons of multieffects which change the sound of a amp...., maybe if you are a virtuose, you can be very picky, if not, I think
carvin, fender.....all are great amps.

sorry for my english,
fred
