Digi 002 on Windows Format

Hi there...soon I will be purchasing pro Tools Digi 002 to use with a laptop I'm going to get...(Looking into the Gateways that they recommend - Win XP)

Just wanting to know if anyone around here has this same setup as what I'm going for...and if you have any comments about it.

The topic of Pro Tools is contraversy around here...everyone has opinions...I know of the other things I can use...but I prefer Pro Tools from previous usage...and I just want some comments on this LE stuff that I'm not very familiar.

Just be sure to get a laptop that fulfilss digi's fairly strict criteria. I have a Dell that is incompatible-very frustrating.

I went to the 002 compatibility site and it gave me the link of MusicXPC's computer. It's specifically made for audio recording...looks interesting that's all.

The XPC is not a laptop, nor is it worth the money. It's a Shuttle barebones computer kit that you can piece together yourself for a helluva lot less. It's overpriced. Buy a notebook, and be done with it. Otherwise, get a custom made tower that is more expandable and quieter.

Within audio circles, the Digi002 preamps are considered quite low quality -- especially considering the price tag of the 002!

Get yourself an Echo Layla Cardbus, and a Focusrite Octopre.

That would be the best route, I think.

Well i checked the reviews and they seem to be interesting products, but the problem is that i cant find these products in my country. we only have dealers for the major brands Roland, yamaha, digidesign... or comercial ones creative, Maudio and crappy stuff.
